Hello From South Korea

I left home at 6 on Thursday morning.  It is now 6PM local time in Seoul, South Korea.  I understand it's 3 in the morning back home.  By the time you wake up, I'll be in China.  We arrived at the Inchon airport not too long ago and I had to go through security.  As a consolation, I bought a Starbucks coffee.  Don't worry.  I ate exotically on the airplane.
Turns out, I didn't find the power outlet for my laptop until I was getting off the plane, so I didn't take my laptop out in case I'd need it later.  Which it turns out I do.  Instead I spent the entire plane ride utilizing Korean Airline's extensive personal entertainment provided in the back of the seat in front of me.  I watched like 5 movies and created a whole playlist of songs to listen to while I tracked the plane on the SkyMap and thought about what I'd be doing if I were home.  It wasn't as boring as it sounds.  My theory is that planes are like time vortexes.  It is never as boring to spend hours on a plane as it is to spend hours anywhere else.  I think your brain shuts down while you're on one, so you don't have to be doing as much all the time.  Or something.
What I've seen of South Korea looks pretty much how I'd pictured it, which is an image entirely created by a children's book we used to have about Korean refugees who fled from Seoul on freight trains during the Korean War.  All the pictures were of weary-looking people trudging through white snow against a gray, textureless sky.  That's the sort of day it was today.  The ground was thickly dusted with snow, the sky was nearly as white, and there was a blurring fog hovering along the ground blurring the horizon line.

There's some activity taking place at the gate, so I'm going to go check out the commotion.  Just letting you know I got here safe and sound, no troubles at all.  I'm such a savvy traveler!

Moved to Tears

I can't remember the last time I felt so moved.  Thank you so much, 4th period, for making today one of the most beautiful days I can remember.  Inundated with a flood of care, love, and appreciation, how could I not be touched?  I am so pleased to have been able to know you all, and can hardly wait to get back to you all.  I would love to get to know every one of you better, for you have touched my life as well.  Thank you for this wonderful party, for showing me how much of an effect I've had.  I feel so inspired to be the best I can be.  I love you all, and I'll miss you.  Thank you.
It is with bittersweet excitement that I spend this final day here in America.  I can't wait for my adventures to begin, but there sure is a lot here to miss.  Sometimes leaving is the best way to appreciate what you have.  It turns out I have a lot to be thankful for.  My family, friends, my life here.  God has blessed me in abundance, and I'm glad to be able to share some of that blessing with others.  By tonight, the bags will be zipped, the room cleaned, everything ready for me to say goodbye.  The next time you hear from me, it'll be from abroad.  I love you all, and God bless you as He's so richly done me!

Glad to Miss THIS...

I'll miss a lot of things about being home, but the chaos of a construction scene in my own living room is one thing I am quite pleased to miss.  Just 3 days of pounding and hammering and radio music.  Phew.  In just a few hours, our living room now looks like a disaster scene.
So, I still have to pack.  So far, all that's made it to the suitcase is the stuff I'm bringing the Blackburns.  Good thing I get two bags!  Of course, all that room will be full of souvenirs on the way home, so no complaints, haha.
Turns out there're a few more things to buy, a few more chores to do before I can leave.  That's fine.  I can't wait.  Just 3 days left!

Countdown: 5 Days Left!

I woke up this morning and looked out the window at water the color of sapphires, rippling and gleaming in the early morning sunshine.  Palm trees swayed in the wind and I smiled.

I love it!  But I love too widening my experiences, seeing new places, and enjoying cultures I didn't know.  I can't wait for these new experiences in store for me.  Countdown: 5 days left!  Then it's the plane for Korea!

I guess it's time to pack.  It's not like I won't have entertainment.  The five movies and a computer game I bought yesterday will attest to the fact that I shall not be bored.  Oh, and then there's the internet.  I enjoy my life!
